Service Provided Telemetry system
The Challenge
Total Automated Solutions tendered for the design, supply and installation of a GSM, Text-based Telemetry System on a Landfill Site.
The aim of the project was to provide status messages, critical alarms and remote control on five remote pumping stations throughout the site.
These stations form part of a leachate management system designed to prevent leachate and contaminated groundwater reaching the local watercourse, Allan Water.
This tributary to the river Tweed is a designated site of special scientific interest (SSSI) it was therefore imperative that any pump downtime was kept to a minimum and that the equipment was left in an operational state during non-working hours.

Telemetry system for status messages, alarms and remote control
Installation of fully functioning Telemetry system
The Solution
The contract was awarded at the close of business on 4th December. The project timeframe was particularly tight as the system had to be fully operational by the 24th of December leaving a window of only 14 working days for the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of a highly specialised system.
To further add to the difficulties faced by our engineers in delivering this system in the timeframe provided, was the poor weather conditions with rain, snow and freezing temperatures hampering progress.
The Results
Despite the obstacles faced during the project, the fully operational telemetry system was activated on time providing our client with an innovative yet cost‐effective means of monitoring and controlling their critical plant equipment. The success of this action and the teams efficiency has led to many years of repeat business and a close working relationship with our clients.
