Industrial Telemetry Solutions
Our Telemetry Solutions allow you to gather valuable insights through the automated remote recording and transmission of information between locations. Telemetry helps you to improve user experience and optimize performance, identified through the automatic collection and transmission of data from various performance tracking sources, including user interactions, systems performance metrics and more. This data can be optimally managed to identify patterns, monitor performance, trends bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
Telemetry control systems refers to the automated remote recording and transmission of information between locations. This can serve a wide range of uses where remote operations can be monitored and can include recording field operations and operating in remote, inaccessible or hostile environments. This information can be transmitted via an IP address, SMS text message, email address, and even through integration with an existing system.
Telemetry systems are no longer the preserve of large and multinational businesses - it can be deployed in practically any location to monitor any number of remote assets and almost any conceivable parameter. Total Automated Solutions are specialists in the field of telemetry, data acquisition and remote monitoring.
Future Connectivity supporting your business.
Integration for better operation management
Telemetry Systems Approach
Total Automated Solutions run a bespoke telemetry system, always held in stock, to enable rapid deployment of field devices called Remote Terminal Unit's (RTU). The remote monitoring provides a powerful yet cost-effective and scalable solution though data acquisition. This telemetry system equipment can be connected in a multitude of different ways and powered from almost any source, including low power solar solutions. We have a best-of-breed approach using most suitable highest quality RTU's, telemetry medium and centralised control/monitoring, with telemetry networks that fit with your existing/legacy systems.
Advantages of Telemetry Control Systems:
Scalable – a system that can grow with your requirements
Reliable, available 24/7/365
Resilient – appropriate for the application
Logic capability for local control functions
Constantly evolving software and hardware
Can be deployed in multiples to perform point-to-point control functions
Easy to use and configure
Low cost installation and support
Utilises new innovative technology
Provides Return on Investment
SCADA integration
Bill Lilly - Director BLBB Consulting Limited
“Working with Total Automated Solutions is simply a pleasure. Their honest, knowledgeable approach means that what have often been complex and difficult items within a contract to get right have, using them become straightforward components of our projects. Their approach and support on Telemetry and flow measurement systems in particular continue to deliver excellent value for money solutions for us and our clients. The team are always helpful and have a "can do will do" approach to site work.
With Total Automated Solutions we have taken on projects that in the past, we would have avoided because of the difficulties associated with delivering complex remote monitoring systems that, if poorly installed can end up becoming very time-consuming items to unravel and resolve. Ben and his team make it look easy but anyone with experience knows that this is a complex area that can go badly wrong. I cannot speak highly enough of Total Automated Solutions and can wholeheartedly recommend them.”

TASK1RTU is a low cost, 8 digital, 4 analogue input, 4 digital output device.
It is a GSM, Wifi, Bluetooth, Modbus outstation capable of telemetry functions such as alarming and status services plus additional functionality such as live readings, point to point and remote control.

With traditional SCADA the Central Station (CS) comprises of single or main/standby computers/servers running the CS SCADA software.
This approach is well proven and has been in operation for around 40 years. However, there is a large overhead associated with this control centre philosophy because it needs to be manned 24/7/365.
Recent developments in cloud computing, SCADA as a Service (SaaS), high level resilience/availability of cloud solutions has meant that SCADA solutions can now be managed from the cloud (managed service, public, private, on-premise cloud).
The system is configured for the RTU to carry out action required locally at the plant, whilst the CS is configured to automatically respond to alarm/events, prioritise them and forward the alarm/event/plant status to operators, maintenance personnel, managers as appropriate, tablets, smart phones, and other portable devices. This eliminates the need for a manned control centre, minimising capital and OPEX costs.

Depending on the application we recommend a range of different RTUs. These can be simple monitoring devices or include a range of functions where local control, data manipulation, local data processing is required. This is where “fit for purpose” becomes important, with a balance between functionality, cost and ease of deployment.
We combine hardware design for PSU and battery needs, I/O count, software application and communications expertise to make our RTUs fit for the application.
Simple RTUs transmit plant status, alarms, operational aspects etc, whilst intelligent RTUs can provide a range of functionality and features such as:
Sensing when data is a trend and taking the appropriate action.
Determining when an event is an alarm and taking action locally as well as transmitting the alarm to the control centre.
Automatic changing of alarm thresholds and trend frequency when set parameters have been hit.
Power-up and report by exception
Time synchronisation at RTU and CS level
Meta data and time stamped data
Diagnostics
Remote configuration
Peer-to-peer comms
Data concentration
Support of multiple protocols to interface with slave devices
Configurable I/O
Events/Alarms on all points and
Data analytics at the edge
The characteristics detailed above are discussed during technical meetings with the client to ensure that the appropriate, fit for purpose technology and approach is utilised.
